Colfax attracts everyone, but it takes a certain type of character to call it home.
During the upcoming year, Myxed Up Creations will be celebrating 30 years of Myxed Up Creations on Colfax Ave. To mark the occasion, Myxed Up founder Phil Guerin recently sat down with Westword Denver cannabis editor Thomas Mitchell to talk about 30 years on Colfax, and among other things, Denver's current marijuana and cannabis landscape. Guerin talks about all of the change he's seen since opening the shop in 1992, and many of the ways that the cannabis industry has changed (and stayed the same).
Phil started off by selling hand-made fimo clay mushrooms at events like the Taste of Colorado, but quickly realized that glassware and smoking accessories presented a more compelling career path. "Turning from mushroom purveyor to head shop owner, he began selling pieces at Myxed Up on Colfax in the early ’90s, and he hasn't looked back."
The reality is that there is no way that we would have lasted 30 years on Colfax without our amazing customers. Colfax is the place that we call home, and we don't ever want to leave. Like Phil says, "It was always my desire to stay here. I love that street."
